Karen earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) from New York University School of Law, where she specialized in fintech regulation and cross-border transactions and held the Michael A. Schwind Scholarship in Global Law and a Dean's Graduate Award. She received her law degree from the Central University of Ecuador, ranked as top 1% of her class.

Karen is licensed to practice law in Ecuador and sat for the New York bar examination in July 2026. She is not yet admitted in New York.
